JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

DEPARTMENT: Software Development

PURPOSE:

To design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications using Ruby on Rails, ensuring high performance, reliability, and excellent user experience. The role also contributes to technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to support the organization's growth and product innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, following industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, QA, DevOps) to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Optimize application performance, ensuring responsiveness and reliability.
  • Integrate third-party APIs, cloud services, and internal systems as required.
  • Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to knowledge sharing.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and advocate for best practices in software development.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development with a strong focus on Ruby on Rails.
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), MVC architecture, and RESTful API design.
  • Experience with frontend technologies (JavaScript, React, Vue, or similar frameworks) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar) with proficiency in writing optimized queries.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and testing frameworks (RSpec, Minitest).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring abilities.
