Softscape Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit high-quality softscape shop drawings in accordance with project timelines.
• Ensure drawings comply with project technical specifications, international standards, and local regulations.
• Resolve technical issues related to softscape works, including planting details, materials, and construction methods.
• Review and verify planting schedules and material submittals, ensuring compliance with approved specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants and client representatives to obtain drawing approvals and close technical queries.
• Monitor and support site implementation by providing technical clarification on drawings and details.
• Maintain drawing logs, submission schedules, and documentation to ensure efficient workflow.
• Support the project team during inspections and handover by providing technical documentation and as-built drawings.
• Conduct site inspections for softscape works, including tree, shrub, and groundcover planting.
• Verify plant quality upon delivery (species, size, crown width, rootball/pot condition) to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Monitor planting techniques (pit preparation, soil mix, backfilling, staking, mulching) to meet project standards.
• Prepare and complete QC checklists, inspection requests, and daily reports.
• Identify and document non-conformities (NCRs), follow up on corrective actions, and report deviations.
• Coordinate with site teams, consultants, and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
• Maintain accurate QC documentation for project handover.
• Enforce HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements during all softscape and irrigation activities.

Personal Competencies / Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Landscape or Softscape Engineer in large-scale infrastructure or real estate projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of plants, softscape materials, and soil/planting techniques.
• Familiarity with international standards, local regulations, and project technical specifications related to landscaping.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, with the ability to produce and manage softscape shop drawings.
• Good project management skills, including planning, resource allocation, and reporting.
• Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and consultants.
• Proven experience in QC for softscape works, with strong knowledge of trees, shrubs, and groundcovers commonly used in landscaping projects.
• Familiarity with plant characteristics, water demand, and fertilizer requirements.
• Practical knowledge of irrigation lateral works (pipelines, drip lines, valves, controllers, cabling).
• Good understanding of QA/QC procedures, method statements, and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
• Skilled in material verification and inspection processes for both plants and irrigation components.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prepare reports and maintain QC documentation.
• Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English (spoken and written).
