Job Description: CAD Engineer

Location: Karachi, Pakistan

Overview:

The CAD Engineer is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings, 2D and 3D models, and design documentation to support engineering, construction, and manufacturing processes. The role involves understanding project requirements, collaborating with engineers and architects, and ensuring all drawings comply with relevant standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Interpret engineering sketches, BOQs, technical notes, and specifications to create precise design outputs.
  • Modify and revise drawings based on feedback from engineering and project teams.
  • Ensure drawings follow company drafting standards and industry codes.
  • Maintain organized drawing files, layers, version history, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to resolve design-related issues.
  • Assist in quantity take-offs, material estimation, and preparation of design presentations when required.
  • Produce shop drawings, as-built drawings, and fabrication details.
  • Support quality control by checking drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical input.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering, or in Drafting and Design Technology.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one other design software, for example SolidWorks, Revit, SketchUp, STAAD, or Civil 3D.
  • Understanding of engineering principles, construction drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and standards.
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in BIM tools like Revit or Navisworks.
  • Knowledge of ISO drawing standards and technical codes.
  • Experience preparing fabrication, MEP, structural, or architectural drawings.
  • Basic understanding of project workflows and design coordination.
