Summary:

Skilled electrician trained in TVET/TEVTA-aligned programs (e.g., TEVTA, Pak-German, Pak-Swedish) responsible for installation, maintenance, testing and safe operation of low-voltage electrical systems in residential, commercial or light-industrial environments. Must follow electrical codes, health & safety procedures and keep clear maintenance records.

Key duties & responsibilities


• Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair wiring, switchgear, panels, distribution boards, outlets, lighting and small motors.


• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and single-line diagrams.


• Test circuits and equipment with multimeters, insulation testers and continuity testers; carry out preventive maintenance.


• Perform basic control wiring, cable jointing, conduit work and earthing/grounding.


• Follow OHSE (occupational health, safety & environment) procedures, lock-out/tag-out and maintain safe worksites.


• Keep work logs, parts inventory and report to site supervisor; assist in estimating time/materials for jobs.

Required qualifications


• TVET certificate in Electrician / Electrical Technology from TEVTA, Pak-German, Pak-Swedish or an equivalent recognized vocational certificate (NVQ/NVQF Level 2–5 / DAE where applicable).


• Minimum education: Matriculation (or as per specific course entry—some short courses accept lower grades).


• Practical workshop training (6 months → 2 years programs depending on trade level) and competency in basic hand tools and test instruments.

Experience


• 0–2 years for junior/entry roles if freshly certified; 2+ years of site/industry experience preferred for mid-level roles. Employers commonly accept apprenticeships or documented on-the-job training.

Skills & attributes


• Good understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, single-phase and three-phase systems.


• Ability to read drawings, problem-solve and work independently or as part of a team.


• Basic computer literacy (for maintenance logs) and good communication.


• Physically fit, able to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.

Certifications (preferred)


• First Aid, Fire Safety, OHSE training certificates; trade test pass / competency assessment by TEVTA / NAVTTC / PSDF where applicable.
