Technologist - Molecular Biology

Job Responsibilities:

• Core Responsibilities

Perform all assigned tasks with proper maintenance of analyzers and stock in the Molecular Biology Lab, ensuring compliance with Infection Control Department and The Indus Hospital & Health Network Policy.

• Technical and Analytical Duties

Prepare, process, analyze, and store samples as per SOPs; operate bio-safety cabinets, centrifuges, incubators, washers, vortex, analyzers, and other lab equipment; perform PCR-based techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, preparation of wet/dry master mix, and run curve analysis; document quality control procedures and perform routine analyzer maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly).

• Safety and Quality Control

Handle hazardous chemicals and biological materials using appropriate PPE, follow infection control and ISO 15189 standards, report abnormal results to the concerned consultant, and ensure EQA participation, calibration, and stock control.

• Training and Coordination

Train and guide juniors and trainees, manage assigned projects and workload, and perform additional tasks as directed by seniors or section head.

• Administrative and Periodic Duties

Maintain inventory of kits and consumables, ensure monthly analyzer maintenance as per procedures, prepare weekly/monthly indents, and perform after-hours duty when required.

Job Requirements:

• Qualification: BS - Medical Laboratory Technology/Biochemistry
• Experience: Fresh to 03 years as a Technologist (Molecular Biology) required
• Working Shifts: Rotational (Morning/Evening/Night)
• Location: Karachi
