Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced
OpenEHR Developer
to design, develop, and implement a comprehensive Electronic Health Record (EHR) system fully aligned with the
OpenEHR standard
. The role involves building core components such as the clinical data repository, archetype and template infrastructure, interoperability APIs, clinical workflow modules, and analytics dashboards. The developer will collaborate with healthcare stakeholders and IT teams to ensure semantic interoperability, data longevity, and compliance with healthcare security and privacy regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the
    OpenEHR Reference Model (RM v1.0.4 or higher)
    and ensure compliance with archetypes, templates, and operational templates (OPT).
  • Develop and maintain a
    Clinical Data Repository
    with full support for versioning, AQL (Archetype Query Language), and optimized query execution.
  • Build structured clinical information capture modules including
    OBSERVATION, EVALUATION, INSTRUCTION, ACTION
    entries.
  • Design and integrate
    clinical workflows
    , including care pathways, task management, decision support (via GDL), and notifications.
  • Develop and expose
    RESTful APIs
    compliant with the OpenEHR REST API specification, supporting JSON and XML.
  • Ensure interoperability with external healthcare systems using
    HL7 FHIR, CDA
    , and mapping archetypes to FHIR resources.
  • Integrate with external
    terminologies
    such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, RxNorm, and UCUM.
  • Implement robust
    security and privacy features
    including RBAC, audit trails, consent management, encryption, and emergency "break-glass" access.
  • Develop
    analytics and reporting tools
    for clinical, operational, and population health insights.
  • Optimize system performance to meet
    non-functional requirements
    (scalability, high availability, data volume handling, usability, and maintainability).
  • Collaborate with clinical experts to validate archetypes, templates, and workflows for real-world healthcare scenarios.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in
    Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics
    , or related field.
  • Proven experience in
    EHR/EMR development
    or health IT systems with
    OpenEHR expertise
    .
  • Strong programming skills in
    Java, C#, Python, or similar
    , with hands-on experience in API and database development.
  • Familiarity with
    AQL, ADL, OPT, TDL
    , and healthcare data models.
  • Knowledge of
    HL7, FHIR, CDA, and healthcare interoperability standards
    .
  • Experience with
    terminology services
    (SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, RxNorm).
  • Proficiency with
    SQL/NoSQL databases
    and cloud platforms (
    AWS, Azure, GCP
    ).
  • Understanding of
    security frameworks
    (OAuth2, RBAC, HIPAA/GDPR compliance).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with
    clinical decision support systems (CDSS)
    .
  • Background in
    health data analytics, dashboards, and visualization tools
    .
  • Familiarity with
    ISO 27001, HITRUST, WCAG 2.1 AA usability standards
    .
  • Prior work with
    population health management and cohort analysis
    .
