About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Agronomist for a part-time role with strong expertise in sugarcane cultivation and precision agriculture technologies to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and monitoring data-driven farming solutions, supporting farmers in optimizing yields, improving resource efficiency, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field assessments, soil sampling, and crop monitoring for sugarcane farms using precision agriculture tools.
  • Develop and implement best agronomic practices to improve yield, soil health, and water efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to integrate field data with IoT, satellite, and digital monitoring platforms.
  • Provide expert advice on fertilizer application, irrigation scheduling, pest/disease management, and sustainable farming practices.
  • Support the design and validation of agronomic models and decision-support tools.
  • Prepare agronomic reports, field summaries, and recommendations for internal teams and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Science, Crop Science, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in sugarcane agronomy, precision agriculture, or related areas.
  • Strong understanding of crop growth stages, soil fertility, pest management, and irrigation systems.
  • Experience using GIS tools, remote sensing data, and IoT-based farm management systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to analyze field data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with farmers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to field sites and demonstration farms.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with smart farming tools and digital agriculture platforms.
  • Knowledge of sustainable agriculture and climate-resilient farming practices.
  • Familiarity with data collection apps and basic data visualization tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork skills.
