Role responsibilities involves designing, implementing, and managing Software-Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN) to optimize network performance and security across multiple locations. Key responsibilities include configuring routers, firewalls, and switches; troubleshooting network issues; monitoring performance; and ensuring connectivity to cloud services. The role requires strong knowledge of network protocols, cloud integration, and security technologies, with duties also including documentation, technical support, and staying current with new network developments.

Core responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation: Plan, design, and deploy SD-WAN architecture, including network topologies, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and security configurations.
  • Configuration and management: Configure and orchestrate SD-WAN for remote sites, set up zero-touch provisioning, and manage security zones and VRFs.
  • Performance optimization: Monitor network performance, implement Quality of Service (QoS), optimize TCP traffic, and use features like dynamic path control to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting and support: Isolate and resolve network issues, provide technical support to users and internal teams, and manage incidents until closure.
  • Security: Implement and monitor IT security systems, manage firewalls, and ensure security protocols are up-to-date to protect the network.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain network configuration documentation, standard operating procedures, and create proposals for network improvements.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Technical skills: Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, and VLANs.
  • SD-WAN expertise: Hands-on experience with specific SD-WAN platforms (e.g., Cisco Viptela, VMware, Silver Peak).
  • Security knowledge: Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and other network security technologies.
  • Cloud integration: Familiarity with integrating SD-WAN solutions with cloud-based services.

Soft skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, strong communication, and the ability to work effectively independently.
