I. Background and Context

The Pak Alliance for Maths and Science (PAMS) is a non-profit organization with a mandate to inform and advocate for a learning environment that prioritizes the interests of Pakistani students in policy and practice reform.

PAMS has conducted research, piloted innovations, provided technical support to government entities, and advocated for education reform. The head office is in Islamabad, with Policy Units based in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Gilgit.

As part of its work, PAMS is undertaking the translation of maths remediation materials into Urdu and Pashto to enhance accessibility for teachers and students in public schools. These materials include structured educational documents and video scripts designed to support foundational maths learning in primary grades.

To ensure high-quality and contextually appropriate translations, PAMS seeks experienced Urdu and Pashto language translators with familiarity in educational content.

II. Scope of Work

The selected translator(s) will be responsible for translating educational materials from English to Urdu and/or Pashto, including:

• Documents: 37–100 pages (to be translated into Pashto)
• Video scripts: 15–20 educational videos (to be translated into Pashto)

The final counts will be confirmed at the time of assignment. PAMS reserves the right to distribute content among multiple vendors based on availability.

The translated content must be:

• Typed and formatted in editable Word format )
• Linguistically accurate, free from spelling and grammatical errors
• Consistent with commonly used educational terminology in Pashto
• Culturally and contextually appropriate for government school learners and teachers
• Reviewed and fully proofread prior to submission

PAMS will provide sample materials, reference documents, and support for any content-specific queries.

III. Deliverables and Timeline

Translators will be expected to submit content in batches for timely review and feedback.

• Application Deadline: 10th September :00 PM PST)
• Contract Start Date: 12th September 2025
• Completion Deadline: 30th September 2025

IV. Quotation Requirements

Applicants must submit a formal quotation (1-page, soft copy in PDF format) including the following:

• Full name and contact details
• Per-page rate for translation (typed)
• Confirmation that rates are inclusive of all applicable taxes
• Signature on the quotation
• A sample translation (English Pashto)
• Acknowledgement of availability to complete the assignment (with feedback incorporated) by 30th September 2025

V. Application Process

Applicants must follow these guidelines:

• Quotations should be sent via email to no later than 5:00 PM PST, 10th September 2025
• Email subject line: Pashto Translation Quotation
• Late submissions will not be accepted

• Applications must include:

• A formal quotation (as described above)

• A sample of previous translation work or a sample based on provided content

Requests for clarification must be sent to the same email by 5th September 2025. PAMS will respond to all queries by 6th September 2025 (without disclosing the sender's identity).

• All quoted charges will be considered inclusive of all applicable taxes
• Quotations must be sent only to (do not copy or email directly to PAMS staff)
• Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
• PAMS reserves the right to split the assignment among multiple vendors depending on the timeline and completion capacity
