Job Brief

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer/System Administrator to take a resident engineer role in Multan. This senior position involves designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization's complex IT infrastructure. The role demands a proactive approach to daily operations, advanced server infrastructure management, system patching, performance monitoring, and ensuring the stability and security of network, endpoint, and system-level services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a wide range of technologies, including Proxmox clusters, SQL Server administration, and various ITSM tools, and will be responsible for driving IT infrastructure management in alignment with defined service levels and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of a resilient and scalable IT infrastructure, with a specific focus on Proxmox cluster creation and administration.
• Manage and maintain the entire lifecycle of servers, including deployment, configuration, patching, and upgrades for both Microsoft Windows Server (2020 and newer) and various Linux distributions.
• Administer and optimize SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
• Implement and manage ITSM solutions, preferably with expertise in Zabbix, ManageEngine, or similar platforms, to monitor system health, performance, and availability.
• Develop and enforce Active Directory policies, manage user access, and handle integrations with other systems.
• Design, deploy, and manage comprehensive email services, including on-premises Exchange Server and cloud-based solutions.
• Plan and execute Microsoft Office 365 deployments, including seamless integration with Active Directory for single sign-on (SSO) and user provisioning.
• Configure and manage hybrid email environments, ensuring smooth migration from on-premises to cloud-based email solutions.
• Execute "lift and shift" migrations of on-premises infrastructure to cloud environments, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Design and implement comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies, performing regular tests to ensure business continuity.
• Oversee Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions and implement data lifecycle management policies to ensure efficient and secure data storage.
• Manage day-to-day IT operations, ensuring system availability, stability, and continuity.
• Conduct advanced monitoring of servers, endpoints, and networks using a variety of monitoring tools and dashboards.
• Lead efforts in endpoint protection and stabilization, including malware defense, patch compliance, and configuration enforcement.
• Contribute to network stabilization through IP schema management, VLAN structuring, and policy-based access control.
• •mplement and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for IT operations, incident response, and change management.
• Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date system documentation, including inventories, network topology, and configuration details.
• Provide senior-level support for disaster recovery readiness and lead simulation tests.
• Collaborate with and mentor junior technical staff in security monitoring, system reconfiguration, and incident handling.
• Generate detailed operational updates and reports as per SLA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7-10 years of proven experience as a Systems Engineer, System Administrator, or a similar senior IT role.
• In-depth, hands-on experience with Proxmox cluster creation, configuration, and management.
• Strong proficiency in SQL Server Administration, including performance tuning, backup, and recovery.
• Demonstrable experience with ITSM tools such as Zabbix, ManageEngine, or other enterprise-level monitoring and management platforms.
• Expert-level knowledge of various Linux flavors (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat) and Microsoft Windows Server (2020 and newer) administration.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing Active Directory policies and managing complex integrations.
• Extensive experience in email service deployment, including Microsoft Exchange Server (on-premises and hybrid) and cloud-based email solutions.
• Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office 365 deployment, configuration, and integration with Active Directory environments.
• Strong knowledge of email security protocols, spam filtering, and compliance requirements.
• A strong background in "lift and shift" migration projects, with a clear understanding of the associated challenges and best practices.
• Extensive experience in designing and implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Solid understanding of NAS technologies and data lifecycle management principles.
• Strong understanding of network fundamentals (VLANs, Active Directory, access policies).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and SIEM/log management solutions (open-source or enterprise-grade).
• In-depth knowledge of security controls (antivirus, IAM, endpoint protection).
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proven track record of structured reporting and escalation processes.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in enterprise-scale IT infrastructure environments.
• Hands-on experience with a wide range of open-source monitoring and backup tools.
• ITIL certification or extensive experience working in SLA-driven environments.
• Proven ability to document and enforce IT SOPs effectively.
• Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate, etc.).
