Job Purpose:

The HSE Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across all project operations. The role involves implementing company HSE policies, conducting inspections, providing training, and promoting a strong safety culture to minimize incidents, injuries, and environmental impacts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems in line with organizational and legal requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project HSE plans.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement preventive and corrective measures.
  • Lead incident investigations, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks to site personnel, subcontractors, and staff.
  • Ensure all personnel are aware of and follow safe work practices.
  • Monitor waste management, pollution control, and environmental protection activities.
  • Maintain and update HSE documentation, permits, and records.
  • Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies on safety and environmental compliance.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response drills.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum
    6-8 years of experience
    in HSE roles, preferably in
    construction, oil & gas, or industrial projects
    .
  • Knowledge of
    ISO Occupational Health & Safety)
    and
    ISO Environmental Management)
    systems.
  • Familiarity with
    local labor laws and HSE regulations
    .
  • Certification in
    NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA
    or equivalent (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-risk environments.
