Overview

Plutus is building a modern food platform with integrated POS and inventory management. We're looking for a seasoned Laravel + engineer (5+ years) who can own features end-to-end, collaborate in real-time with clients to refine requirements, and keep production humming.

What You'll Do

  • Build & ship feature-rich web apps using Laravel and (Composition API preferred).
  • Develop POS modules: ordering, billing, tax/discount rules, receipt printing, reporting, user roles, and multi-terminal flows.
  • Create real-time inventory: live stock updates, purchase orders, stock adjustments, low-stock alerts, and batch/variant support.
  • Implement real-time updates (WebSockets/Broadcasting/Pusher) for orders, kitchen screens, and dashboards.
  • Integrate payments and peripherals (barcode scanners and receipt/thermal printers), and harden error handling/retries.
  • Own production: instrument logging/APM (e.g., Laravel Telescope/Sentry), monitor SLOs, triage incidents, run post-mortems, and drive fixes.
  • Client communication (live): join/run real-time client chats to gather requirements, clarify edge cases, share progress, and confirm acceptance criteria.
  • Product introduction & onboarding: demo new features, prepare quick guides/release notes, and support client go-live.
  • Write clean, well-tested code (PHPUnit/Pest), review PRs, and maintain solid documentation.
  • Partner with design and QA to deliver lovable, accessible user flows.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years hands-on with Laravel (8/9/10) and (2/3), Vite, and RESTful APIs.
  • Proven experience shipping POS and inventory systems for restaurants/retail.
  • Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL/MariaDB: indexing, query tuning, transactions/locking, migrations, and seeders.
  • Solid grasp of Git, Composer, NPM, and modern CI/CD workflows.
  • Excellent communication: can translate business needs into technical plans, lead client chats, write crisp tickets/specs, and collaborate with technical & non-technical stakeholders.
  • Production mindset: debugging, performance profiling, graceful degradation, and incident response/on-call readiness.

Bonus Points

  • WebSockets/Broadcasting expertise (Pusher, Laravel Echo), SSE.
  • UI/UX savvy for fast checkout, error-proof ordering, and responsive terminals.
  • Offline-first techniques (caching, background sync), service workers.
  • Experience with ESC/POS printing and barcode generation/scanning.
  • Docker, AWS/DO, CI/CD, Terraform, and E2E testing (Cypress/Playwright).
  • TypeScript and component libraries for Vue.

  • On-site with cross-functional teams in Johar Town, Lahore.
  • Participate in real-time client chats during business hours for requirements & support.
  • Help manage product delivery from discovery to release to production support.
