About The Role

Afiniti is looking for a
Data Scientist II
who combines analytical precision, problem-solving skills, and a passion for uncovering insights through data. Reporting to the Manager, Data Science, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing Afiniti's AI-driven pairing and recommendation models that power human interactions at scale.

As part of the Data Science team, you will apply statistical inference, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques to large-scale datasets across diverse industries including telecommunications, healthcare, banking, and travel. You will work collaboratively with analytics, product, and engineering teams to translate theoretical concepts into deployable, measurable business impact. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a global, fast-paced environment with exposure to cutting-edge AI and data solutions.

What Will be Your Key Deliverables

• Perform statistical inference and advanced analysis on large datasets to identify key drivers and inform decision-making.
• Build, test, and refine predictive models and algorithms that optimize customer-agent pairing and next-best-action recommendations.
• Conduct performance analyses using real-time control groups to measure the impact of Afiniti's AI deployments.
• Translate abstract or ambiguous problems into tractable, data-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (analytics, product, and engineering) to operationalize models and insights.
• Communicate findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Lead or support production activities for deployed AI models, ensuring performance monitoring and reliability.

Who You Are

Experience:
2–3 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied statistics, ideally within technology-driven or large-scale analytical environments.

Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

Skills:

• Strong command of Python, R, or Julia for data analysis and modeling.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
• Solid foundation in statistics, machine learning, and mathematical optimization.
• Hands-on experience working with large datasets, data visualization, and analytical reporting.
• Familiarity with tools like Git, Jupyter, or R Markdown for reproducible research and collaboration.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage projects independently and deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional setting.

Behavioral Traits:
Analytical, curious, collaborative, and able to thrive in a dynamic, research-oriented environment.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Bayesian statistics, hierarchical modeling, MCMC algorithms, or latent factor models.
• Familiarity with Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools.
• Experience with cloud-based data processing or distributed computing frameworks.
• Exposure to production-level machine learning deployment and monitoring.
