Job Description

As a Sports Writer for ProSports, you will play a pivotal role in creating engaging, informative, and up-to-date sports content for our readers. You will have the opportunity to cover a wide range of sporting events, with a primary focus on cricket, while also showcasing your knowledge of football and other sports in Pakistan.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Content Creation

Researching and producing well-written, informative, and engaging articles, features, news reports, and analysis pieces on a daily basis.

Covering live sports events, matches, and tournaments and providing real-time updates and commentary.

Captions for Social Media posts related to sports news/infographics.

  1. Sports Analysis

Offering insightful and in-depth analysis of cricket matches and other sports events with a focus on the Pakistani context.

Staying updated with the latest trends and developments in the sports world to produce thought-provoking content.

  1. Collaboration

Collaborating with the editorial team to plan and execute content strategies, special features, and editorial calendars.

Developing industry links including sports persons, journalists and other sources.

  1. Stay Informed

Keeping up to date with the latest news, developments, and trends in cricket, football, and other Pakistani sports.

Monitoring social media, sports forums, and other platforms to stay connected with the sports community and identify emerging topics.

Requirements:

-A deep and comprehensive knowledge of cricket is essential, along with a strong passion for the sport.

-Knowledge and interest in other Pakistani sports, especially football, is a significant advantage.

-Experience in sports writing, journalism, or a related field is a plus.

-Writing skills with a keen eye for detail and grammar.

-Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and adapt to fast-paced news cycles.

-Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with readers through comments, social media, and other platforms.

-Familiarity with WordPress and Canva is preferred

-Prior experience in sports journalism or content writing is a plus
