Description

The purpose of this role is to ensure the reliable, secure and high-performance operation of Microsoft SQL Server databases that support business operations across the Pakistan ­region. The SQL Server DBA will manage database availability, performance, backup & recovery, security and maintenance, collaborating with regional IT, application development and support teams to meet business service levels and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
  1. Database Operations – Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of SQL Server databases across the Pakistan region.
  2. Backup & Recovery – Maintain and validate backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
  3. Security & Compliance – Enforce access controls, encryption (TDE), and adherence to regional data regulations.
  4. Change & Incident Management – Implement approved changes, perform root cause analysis, and maintain incident logs.
  5. Patching & Maintenance – Apply database patches, upgrades, and monitor resource utilization proactively.
  6. Automation & Optimization – Develop scripts for routine tasks and improve database efficiency.
  7. Collaboration & Reporting – Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams; share regular performance and capacity reports.
Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Strong expertise in SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, HA/DR (Always-On, Log Shipping, Replication).
  • Good understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance for regional operations.
  • Familiar with ITIL processes and enterprise change management.

Skills:

  • Advanced T-SQL and PowerShell scripting for automation and monitoring.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, performance optimization, and incident resolution abilities.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and documentation skills across regional teams.

Experience:

  • 10+ years in managing large-scale SQL Server environments, including production and DR setups.
  • Proven experience in patching, migration, capacity planning, and supporting 24×7 business operations.
  • Exposure to multi-region (Pakistan & ME) and hybrid cloud database environments.
