Maize Development Advisor - Sindh

The
AGRONOMIST
will be responsible for Achievement of corn (speciality & regular) procurement and sustainability targets allocated by the management. She/He will conduct on-farm experiments to prove technology benefits and find easy-to-adopt application procedures.

Core Responsibilities
Production planning

• To assist Dy. Manager Maize Production in planning, strategic decision making and driving the business results in Sindh
• To encourage farmers to grow waxy/regular maize by presenting business case for working with Rafhan over other competing companies
• To comply all protocols/SOPs for maize procurement, from the packing material delivery to production receipt at company's warehouses
• Maintain healthy relationships with growers in a professional and mutually beneficial manner

ESH

• Comply with the rules set by the EHS Committee and ensure that all the EHS guidelines are duly abided by
• To ensure safety throughout. Keeping in mind, Rafhan's Safety Pledge and ensuring nil reportable incidents during the year
• Steer strategies for sustainability and safety of rural community
• Ensure safety throughout work and travel

Agricultural Development

• To discuss and come up with the best ways of planting, development and harvesting corn with contracting farmers of Sindh
• To search and update management on latest on-going developments in corn crop scenario
• To steer detasseling of seed plots
• Spread awareness amongst Sindh maize farmers on awareness about new trends and productivity enhancement practices via training sessions
• Initiate training sessions to educate growers about yield enhancement in changing climatic conditions
• Regularly seek and takes opportunities to deepen and broaden professional skills
• Initiate maize development activities and create a competitive environment/space for non-GMO corn production

Mandatory Requirements
Qualified candidates will have:

• M.Sc. in Agriculture
• 5 years in agricultural crop production/ development in Sindh
• English fluency, both written and spoken

Desirable Requirements

• Sound knowledge and hands on experience in agricultural farming preferably maize
• Supplier relationship management
• Risk management/mitigation
• Strategic sourcing, planning and management

Required Behaviors And Skills

• Good analytical and communication skills
• Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
