As an Engineering Team Lead, you present yourself as a strong leader, demonstrate deep practical engineering knowledge, and have a proven track record of timely project delivery and management. You'll harness your technological insight and collaborate with Product Managers to create products that enrich users' lives, leveraging multiple disciplines to achieve our technological and business vision.

Your responsibilities include delivering scalable, high-quality products, applying industry trends, and challenging your peers. You will conceive, design, and deliver complex products within your stream, with an intimate knowledge of the business domain and a focus on user experience.

A Team Lead is an expert in team building, understanding team dynamics, and harnessing individual strengths to enhance efficiency. She/He believes in our core values and empowers the team to make the right decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Gain an up-to-date understanding of the dubizzle platform, technologies, and industry trends.
  2. Share broad knowledge of technologies and architectures; mentor within your product stream and across teams.
  3. Collaborate to ensure the delivery of high-standard software.
  4. Promote coding standards, guidelines, and best practices across the company.
  5. Provide technical leadership and mentorship, setting challenging but achievable goals.
  6. Monitor team performance, identify growth opportunities, and support personal development.
  7. Manage daily operational aspects of projects and scope.
  8. Create optimal working environments and methodologies for your team.
Additional Expectations:
  1. Influence the technical direction and scope within your stream.
  2. Shape strong cross-functional teams aligned with business needs.
  3. Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Design, UX, CLM, and Strategy teams.
  4. Hire top talent to build high-performing teams.
  5. Own business KPIs as a link between product and business functions.
Technical Skills & Experience:
  • Deep understanding of open-source software development (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
  • Experience with web frameworks like Django, Ruby on Rails, React.js, Next.js.
  • Knowledge of scalability and high-availability systems.
  • Familiarity with source control, CI/CD, automated testing, UML, and code quality practices.
  • Understanding of UX principles and good product design.
  • 7+ years of experience in web-based front-end/back-end engineering.
  • Experience with high-traffic, large-scale web products.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, XP).
  • Proven leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Experience in analysis, design, coding, and implementation of web applications in Python.
  • Track record of timely project delivery and management.
  • Experience managing teams of 5+ developers.
  • Drive for innovation and technological insight.
