
Dispenser (Anticipated Position)

The Dispenser reports to a team leader of the medical team, the head of the department, or the health facility manager as assigned by the country team. The position is responsible for properly storing and arranging medicines, dispensing prescribed medication by authorized clinicians, and compiling reports on medicine at the health facility or mobile medical team.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Dispense prescribed medicines, maintain stock levels, and keep daily/weekly/monthly records using provided formats.
- Strictly follow prescriptions in medicine dispensing.
- Explain medicine use, timing, route, precautions, side effects, and treatment completion to patients, and advise on when to return for follow-up if needed.
- Properly label medicines according to global standards.
- Provide full course of treatment to patients.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure medicine availability, prevent stockouts, and request medicines timely.
- Maintain appropriate temperature conditions for medicine storage and dispensing sites.
- Accurately record patient-related information in the provided registers.
- Adhere to administrative directives regarding work schedules, record keeping, patient communication, and restocking essential drugs and supplies.
- Update bin cards daily.
- Maintain and share consumption records with relevant staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualified and registered dispenser from a recognized nursing institute with a valid practice license or equivalent qualification accepted in the country.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Experience with NGOs is advantageous.
- Good communication and public interaction skills.
- Knowledge of medicine utilization and dosages.
- Proficiency in English reading and writing.
