Job Description

Perform all related welding activities onboard and in the workshop in a safe manner to meet project targets.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard procedures, and instructions to ensure work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  2. Guide welders regarding the safe execution of welding jobs with required quality.
  3. Assist the group leader/supervisors in proper planning of resources.
  4. Perform welding and grinding jobs according to the required procedures, ensuring safety and quality.
  5. Maintain workplace housekeeping to the required standards.
  6. Ensure appropriate use of tools and machinery, preventing excessive wear, tear, and breakdowns.
  7. Prevent wastage of materials and welding consumables, and report any malfunction of tools and machinery to the immediate supervisor.
  8. Take initiative to pursue self-development through on-the-job training and education.
  9. Follow day-to-day operations related to your own job to ensure continuity of work.

11. Comply with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

12. Prioritize your own well-being and that of your colleagues by maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols, participating in well-being and wellness programs, and promptly reporting any concerns.

Qualifications

Knowledge of various welding processes, especially Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux Core-Arc Welding (FCAW) in 3G & 4G positions. Knowledge of any other welding process is an added advantage.

Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), Trade Apprenticeship, or Primary/Secondary education with strong welding skills.

Experience

Minimum of 4 years' experience as a certified welder in ship repair, offshore fabrication, or heavy industry.
