Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake vetting and review of agreements and contracts, including but not limited to service level agreements, gas sale and purchase agreements, and contracts of procured services governed by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Rules. Ensure agreements serve the company's interests, highlight potentially detrimental terms, and suggest modifications.
  2. Review amendments to laws, rules, and regulations from federal, provincial, and statutory bodies; evaluate their impact on SSGC operations and contracts.
  3. Study drafts of impending legislation and assist in evaluating their probable effects on SSGC.
  4. Coordinate with various SSGC departments to resolve legal issues related to contract drafting, execution, or other legal matters.
  5. Prepare and review draft contracts, MoUs, and non-disclosure agreements related to commercial transactions.
  6. Review tenancy and lease agreements and provide feedback to relevant departments.
  7. Analyze court decisions on legal issues, evaluate their impact on SSGC, and discuss options with superiors.
  8. Coordinate with external law firms for specialized legal opinions and ensure legal requirements are addressed.
  9. Participate in negotiations with exploration & production companies regarding gas sale agreements, ensuring legal aspects are covered.
  10. Provide legal opinions and guidance on issues raised by user departments.
  11. Represent SSGC in government and legal forums, including standing committees and ministries, on legislative matters.
  12. Assist legal counsel in managing lawsuits involving the company and attend court hearings as appropriate.
  13. Identify legal risks, develop risk response strategies, and undertake other tasks as assigned by superiors.
