IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

Be responsible to lead the planning, and design of innovative security solutions within our telecom environment. This position will be pivotal in ensuring that security is incorporated from the ground up in all new telecom and IT projects.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of security best practices, telecom-specific security challenges, and the latest advancements in security technologies, including the use of AI to enhance our security posture. You will work closely with telecom and IT teams, providing security expertise throughout the solution design, development, and deployment phases.

HOW CAN YOU EXPRESS YOUR TALENT

• Security Solution Design: Lead the design and planning of robust security solutions for telecom infrastructure and IT environments, ensuring that security requirements are seamlessly integrated into the solution architecture.
• Security by Design: Ensure that security is considered from the start of every new project and solution, collaborating with development teams to implement secure design principles and threat modelling exercises.
• Threat Modelling & Risk Assessment: Perform threat modelling exercises and risk assessments for new solutions, identifying potential threats and implementing mitigation strategies in collaboration with relevant teams.
• Defense in Depth: Design security architectures that follow the principle of defence in depth, ensuring multiple layers of security to protect against a wide range of threats.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: This role involves managing vendor selection, security solution onboarding, and technical evaluations while ensuring alignment with security standards. It also includes collaborating with internal teams, formulating RFPs, and overseeing vendor management for security governance and compliance.
• AI & Automation in Security: Research, evaluate, and integrate AI-driven security technologies, tools, and automation into the security framework to enhance threat detection, analysis, and incident response.
• Collaborative Approach: Work closely with telecom, IT, and development teams to ensure that security is embedded in every phase of the solution lifecycle, from design to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Telecom-Specific Security Needs: Understand and address the unique security challenges of telecom networks, including 5G, mobile, fixed networks, and hybrid IT systems.
• Compliance & Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all security solutions comply with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CTDISR, GDPR), maintaining documentation for audits and reporting.
• Security Trends & Innovation: Continuously learn and stay current with the latest security technologies, emerging threats, and industry best practices to improve the security posture of telecom operations.
• Collaboration with Senior Leadership: Communicate security design strategies, risk assessments, and mitigation plans to senior leadership, ensuring full alignment with business objectives and security priorities.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Qualification:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CCSK, CISA or similar certifications.
• Experience in designing and planning security solutions, with a focus on telecom and IT infrastructure.
• Experience in a managerial or leadership role, working cross-functionally with security, telecom, and IT teams.

Competencies:

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, guiding them through complex security design challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Ability to work collaboratively across various departments, building consensus and ensuring security is embedded across the organization.
• Strong experience in security solution architecture & design for telecom environments, including mobile, fixed networks, 4G/5G, and hybrid IT systems.
• Understanding and knowledge of software development methodologies, secure coding, threat modelling and design architectures.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and integrating security into Agile/CI/CD workflows.
• Understanding and knowledge of security solutions like Identity and Access Management (IAM), endpoint security, application security, database security, cloud security, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)/Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud security and securing hybrid IT infrastructures.
• Proven expertise in threat modelling, risk assessments, and security by design and security in depth principles.
• Demonstrated experience with AI-driven security technologies, automation, and advanced threat detection techniques.
• Expertise in security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK, and industry-specific standards (e.g., CTDISR).
• Experience in telecom-specific security (e.g., SS7 vulnerabilities, mobile network security, 5G security).
• Solid understanding of network security protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.) and cryptography principles.
