Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead our back-office operations. This leadership role involves managing a team of accountants and bookkeepers to ensure high-quality service in financial reporting, compliance, tax preparation, and advisory support.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax regulations, strong leadership skills, and a proactive, solutions-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, working papers, and tax returns (T1, T2, T4, T5).
  2. Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of accounting and advisory services.
  3. Supervise and mentor accounting professionals, providing guidance and professional development.
  4. Maintain high standards of quality control according to firm policies and standards (ASPE, IFRS, etc.).
  5. Collaborate with partners to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  6. Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and technology tools.
  7. Serve as a key contact for complex client matters, including tax planning and compliance.
  8. Ensure deadlines and compliance obligations are met efficiently.
  9. Support onboarding and training of new team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Qualifications
  • CPA designation in good standing (CPA Canada).
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in public accounting, including at least 3 years in leadership or management.
  • Extensive experience in Canadian tax, financial reporting, and advisory services.
  • Ability to lead, manage, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, ASPE, IFRS, and CRA compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing remote or hybrid teams is an asset.
