Job Description

• GCS, a Microsoft Midmarket Solution Provider and Managed Service Provider, is seeking a self-driven System Engineer to join our team.
• Provide remote support to users, including staff and clients in the USA, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
• Coordinate closely with technical staff such as Senior System Administrators, Chief System Architects, and other team members.

Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM CDT

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage IT infrastructure (physical and virtual) for all clients.
• Maintain and optimize hardware performance, including server upgrades, RAM increases, hard drives, and network cards.
• Manage internal networks within virtual environments.
• Implement security patches across all servers and appliances.
• Maintain endpoint security, keeping EDRs, AVs, and patch management up to date for all clients.
• Collaborate with network, cloud, and helpdesk teams to optimize client infrastructure.
• Manage storage area networks where applicable.
• Handle operating system-related issues.
• Maintain access rights and file server security.
• Manage complex domain environments, including domain controllers, ADS, RODCs, Azure AD, and Active Directory in multi-site, on-premises, and cloud environments.
• Serve as a technical expert in system administration for complex operating systems.
• Install and configure new software and hardware, including servers, network devices, and firewalls.
• Monitor system performance, operations, and storage utilization.
• Plan hardware and software upgrades to support growth.
• Manage user accounts, assets, and security permissions according to policies.
• Gather client requirements, assess, and design system architecture/solutions accordingly.
• Design, implement, and maintain virtual infrastructure such as Hyper-V and VMware.
• Implement disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and fallback solutions.
• Provide documentation and technical specifications for infrastructure planning and upgrades.
• Plan capacity, storage, and database performance enhancements.
• Update and upgrade servers and equipment with patches and firmware.
• Apply security measures and policies using server/domain security policies.
• Research and recommend improvements for system environments and devices.

Skills and Experience:

• BSc or MSc in IT, CS, SE, or a related field.
• 5+ years of IT or related experience.
• Professional IT certifications such as Microsoft MCP, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, VMware VCP, AZ-104, MS-300/301.
• Strong interpersonal skills including communication, active listening, and customer care.
• Technical diagnosis skills.
• Ability to multitask and adapt quickly.
• Technical awareness to match resources to issues.
• Understanding support tools and how technology supports IT services.
• Typing skills for quick, accurate data entry.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
