Plan, direct, and coordinate the production activities that produce millions of goods every year.
Make sure production proceeds smoothly and stays within budget.
Oversee the entire plant area.
Responsible for overseeing the production process, reducing costs.
Ensure that products are produced on time and are of good quality.
Analyze the plant's workers, resources, and capital to select the best way of meeting the production goals.
The production manager may decide which machines will be used, whether new machines need to be purchased, whether overtime or extra shifts are necessary, and what the order of production should be.
Monitor the production process to ensure that it stays on schedule and correct any problems that may arise.
Find ways to make the production process more efficient.
The production manager also monitors product standards and implements quality-control programs.
Ensure the finished product meets a certain level of quality. If the product does not meet that level, investigate the problem and find a solution.
Implement better training programs or work with an outside supplier to improve the quality of raw materials.

Job Specification

A key part of the work of the production manager is to coordinate with different departments in the manufacturing plant.
Work closely with other managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
Collaborate with the financial departments to develop a budget and spending plan.
Also work closely with the heads of sales, procurement, and logistics.
Maintaining constant communication among the manager, suppliers, and procurement departments is essential.
The production manager must keep abreast of new technology that can be used in the production process.
Must be computer literate.
