Consultant - National Senior GBV Expert (Media Fellowship)

This role involves providing strategic guidance and technical expertise for designing and implementing National and Provincial Media Fellowships. The consultant will lead advocacy, capacity building, and coordination efforts with government, media, and civil society stakeholders to ensure participatory fellowship processes. Additionally, the role includes supporting the formation of an alumni group based on previous fellowship cohorts.

The expert must ensure alignment with legal frameworks, international best practices, and survivor-centered approaches to enhance protection, services, and response systems. Collaboration with various stakeholders is essential to strengthen institutional capacity and promote effective GBV prevention and response.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical and conceptual guidance for media fellowships and develop related concept notes.
2. Plan, design, and facilitate workshops, incorporating inputs from relevant technical teams.
3. Develop TORs for the review committee in consultation with partners.
4. Oversee the announcement and participation criteria for fellowships.
5. Guide story development and monitor media outputs for quality and rights-based messaging.
6. Supervise documentary production and launch activities.
7. Lead technical meetings and coordinate with stakeholders.
8. Identify potential challenges and recommend mitigation strategies.

Capacity Building & Training:

1. Update fellowship modules and conduct training sessions.
2. Mentor fellows in media outreach and communication skills.
3. Document project learnings and challenges.
4. Ensure quality and translation of technical materials.
5. Design refresher trainings and alumni events.
6. Develop training modules reflecting diverse vulnerabilities and intersectional perspectives.
7. Coordinate with stakeholders and media outlets to promote fellowship initiatives.
8. Support in establishing partnerships for sustainability.

Monitoring & Content Development:

1. Supervise participant selection processes.
2. Contribute to reports, publications, and advocacy materials.
3. Ensure ethical media reporting.
4. Lead report writing for trainings and project activities.
5. Demonstrate strong media, communication, and storytelling skills.
6. Build and maintain relationships with media at various levels.
7. Train fellows in media engagement on GBV, child marriage, and refugees.
8. Align media strategies with policy and advocacy goals.
9. Track media trends and evaluate impact.

Consultancy Requirements:

1. Master's degree in social sciences, media, communication, or related field.
2. 8-15 years of experience in media engagement, journalism, or advocacy.
3. Experience working with fellows, journalists, or advocacy initiatives preferred.
4. Knowledge of national and provincial media landscapes.
5. Experience in developing media strategies and training on GBV and child marriage.
6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables.
7. Availability to work 3 days a week, with flexibility for virtual or in-person work.
