The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) is a not-for-profit healthcare institute that offers all medical services to their patients under one roof. In addition to the tertiary care hospital in Karachi, AKUH has a network of 4 Off-Campus Hospitals, 30+ Medical Centres, and over 290+ Clinical Laboratories, 30+ Pharmacies in over 120+ cities across Pakistan. It also offers Home Healthcare Services and home deliveries of medicines. The Hospital provides Zakat for those patients who are eligible, and the health systems offers generous Patient Welfare to support those in financial need. In recognition of its high quality and patient safety, the AKUH is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) as an Academic Medical Centre and its Clinical Laboratories are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) for fast and accurate testing.
ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:
- dispense drugs in the inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory pharmacies
- review and process physician orders for accurate therapeutic doses
- monitor laboratory reports for proper indication of antibiotics, drug to drug interactions, duplication of same class etc
- ensure timely delivery of medication to nursing units and patients
- ensure accuracy of the labels before dispensing
- complete expiry of drug list accurately and on timely-basis
- assist in patient counseling for outpatient prescription and maintenance of cash
- prepare cytotoxic drug, TPN solution, IVPB mixtures, sterile injection, bulk compounding and monitor chemo critical list.
You should have:
- a Doctorate / Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from a recognized university
- current registration with pharmacy council Pakistan
- at least one year experience in a reputable organization
- familiarity with hospital pharmacy functioning and processes
- sound knowledge of physiology, pharmacology and pharmaceutical concepts
- knowledge of locally available drugs, pharmaceutical drugs and their indications
- excellent communication skills, particularly with medical professionals and patients
- willingness to work in shift duties.
