
Field Medical Officer

The Field Medical Officer (FMO) will oversee the delivery of medical care within the context of the project, ensuring the efficient and effective management of patients for integrated health delivery interventions for prevalent communicable and non-communicable diseases, with a focus on the integration of newer, shorter regimens for MDR-TB, as recommended by WHO.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide medical management to patients for prevalent communicable and non-communicable diseases (including but not limited to TB including DS and DR-TB, common comorbidities and other common chronic respiratory conditions), ensuring treatment adherence and proper follow-up according to updated WHO guidelines and applicable national/provincial guidelines.
- Participate in training on the adoption and implementation of WHO-recommended shorter regimens for MDR-TB, ensuring seamless integration into the treatment protocols for patient management.
- Monitor patient progress, manage adverse events, and make necessary adjustments to treatment regimens, ensuring safety and adherence to best clinical practices.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the national TB program, local health authorities, and community organizations, to ensure coordinated care and timely patient referrals.
- Ensure that all documentation and reporting comply with national and international standards, and support data collection and accurate case documentation.
- Participate in the review and revision of treatment protocols and clinical guidelines, offering insights and recommendations based on emerging evidence and field experiences.
- Conduct regular reviews of clinical data to assess treatment outcomes and address challenges in care delivery.
- Support the development and implementation of training materials and sessions for clinical and non-clinical staff.
Required Qualification
- Current registration with PMDC
Required Experience
- A minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience, with a focus of managing TB patients in both hospital and field setting
Required Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across various teams
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage clinical care challenges in resource-constrained settings
- High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records
- Capacity to work independently while maintaining a collaborative approach with stakeholders
- Flexibility and willingness to support additional activities, as required by the organization
