Job Description

The role involves:

  1. Handover & takeover of shift-related patient information, including patient files, medication charts, investigation reports, and intake/output charts.
  2. Providing direct patient care in a calm, courteous, and tactful manner.
  3. Ensuring quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and making necessary adjustments based on health outcomes.
  4. Resolving patient problems using multidisciplinary team strategies.
  5. Preparing medication requisitions and administering medications.
  6. Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
  7. Protecting patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies, medication procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  8. Facilitating doctors/consultants during rounds and recording instructions.
  9. Assisting doctors with procedures, preparing patients physically and emotionally, and ensuring necessary equipment is available.
  10. Maintaining accurate nursing documentation according to SOPs.
  11. Carrying out doctors' orders, and addressing any concerns about prescribed treatments.
  12. Managing medical supplies, ensuring they are stocked and properly stored.
  13. Checking and recording blood sugar levels.
  14. Drawing blood and performing lab procedures.
  15. Monitoring vital signs of pre-operative and post-operative patients.
  16. Performing IV cannulation following policy guidelines.
  17. Reporting incidents involving patients, staff, visitors, or untoward occurrences promptly.
  18. Supervising Nurse Aids, Student Nurses, and other staff.
  19. Performing delegated tasks as directed by the Ward Incharge or Nursing Coordinator.
  20. Performing any additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Head of Department.
