Assistant Manager, Governance (Mashreq Global Network Pakistan)

Job Description for the role of Assistant Manager, Governance in Mashreq Global Network Pakistan.

Job Purpose

To formulate internal control, monitoring and governance standards for Business Banking portfolio.

Key Result Areas
  • Develop and manage internal control and governance standards for customer onboarding
  • Develop and manage portfolio monitoring and governance with focus on online channel usage, KYC accuracy, site visits
  • Focus on L3 customers for patterns, account throughput, etc.
  • Ensure that the KYC alerts and profiles are validated and required actions taken
  • Review, monitor and control departmental high risk items such as MER, ONR and deferrals
  • Ensure completion of training modules and awareness of risk for all staff
  • Perform regular governance checks through field visits
  • Develop self-governing practices that help detect fraudulent applications
  • Liaise with FP&I for best practice
  • Implement compliance requirements laid down by Central Bank guidelines
  • OPERATING ENVIRONMENT, FRAMEWORK AND BOUNDARIES, WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
  • Work closely with relationship and service teams, Compliance, CIC, CCAM, Credit Operations and FP&I
  • Proactively manage impact of regulatory changes as the first line of defense
  • PROBLEM SOLVING
  • Ability to understand issues and develop control framework
  • Ability to analyze data to make intelligent deductions
  • DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY & RESPONSIBILITY
  • Decision making and authority on portfolio controls
  • Decision making and authority on control framework with specific thrust on KYC and compliance standards, due diligence
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • University degree, preferably MBA required with 4 years of banking experience with 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in managing AML/Compliance or similar monitoring roles
