Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Technical Delivery (or Technical Manager) to lead and manage the delivery of data-centric projects with a focus on Azure Databricks and Power BI solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in technical project management, and experience working with cloud-based data platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high-quality standards, driving business value and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the End-to-End Delivery: Manage the full life cycle of data-related projects, from initial scoping and planning through to deployment and post-launch support. This includes both hands-on involvement and strategic oversight.
• Azure Databricks & Power BI Projects: Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of solutions using Azure Databricks for data processing and transformation, and Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives and customer needs. Ensure regular communication and reporting on project progress and milestones.
• Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to technical teams, ensuring best practices in AzureDevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based data architecture. Facilitate technical decision-making throughout project delivery.
• Resource Allocation: Ensure the right mix of skills is available by effectively managing technical resources and capacity across multiple projects. Balance internal and external resources as needed.
• Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain delivery timelines and quality standards.
• Project Governance: Implement and enforce project governance frameworks, ensuring that all delivery processes, including testing and release cycles, are followed meticulously.
• Cost and Budget Management: Oversee project budgets and ensure resources are utilized efficiently to maximize profitability while delivering high-quality solutions.
• Performance Optimization: Continuously assess and improve the performance of data pipelines, models, and reports developed on Azure Databricks and Power BI to meet business goals and SLAs.
• Client Interaction: Serve as the main point of contact for client engagements, ensuring project delivery aligns with client expectations and technical solutions are well communicated.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

• Strong experience with Azure Databricks, Power BI, and cloud-based architectures.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps, including pipeline creation, automation, and CI/CD best practices.
• Solid understanding of data engineering, big data processing, and machine learning workflows on Azure.

Leadership & Management:

• 7+ years of experience in project delivery or technical management roles, ideally focused on data-centric or cloud solutions.
• Proven track record in leading technical teams across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

Project Management:

• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, along with traditional project management approaches.
• Ability to manage project scope, timelines, and budgets efficiently.

Communication:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience in client-facing roles.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certifications.
