Role: Director, Technical Delivery

Arrangement: On-Site

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Technical Delivery (or Technical Manager) to lead and manage the delivery of data-centric projects with a focus on Azure Databricks and Power BI solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in technical project management, and experience working with cloud-based data platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high-quality standards, driving business value and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the End-to-End Delivery: Manage the full lifecycle of data-related projects, from initial scoping and planning through to deployment and post-launch support. This includes both hands-on involvement and strategic oversight.
2. Azure Databricks & Power BI Projects: Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of solutions using Azure Databricks for data processing and transformation, and Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
3. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives and customer needs. Ensure regular communication and reporting on project progress and milestones.
4. Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to technical teams, ensuring best practices in Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based data architecture. Facilitate technical decision-making throughout project delivery.
5. Resource Allocation: Ensure the right mix of skills is available by effectively managing technical resources and capacity across multiple projects. Balance internal and external resources as needed.
6. Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement corrective actions when necessary to maintain delivery timelines and quality standards.
7. Project Governance: Implement and enforce project governance frameworks, ensuring that all delivery processes, including testing and release cycles, are followed meticulously.
8. Cost and Budget Management: Oversee project budgets and ensure resources are utilized efficiently to maximize profitability while delivering high-quality solutions.
9. Performance Optimization: Continuously assess and improve the performance of data pipelines, models, and reports developed on Azure Databricks and Power BI to meet business goals and SLAs.
10. Client Interaction: Serve as the main point of contact for client engagements, ensuring project delivery aligns with client expectations and technical solutions are well communicated.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong experience with Azure Databricks, Power BI, and cloud-based architectures.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps, including pipeline creation, automation, and CI/CD best practices.
• Solid understanding of data engineering, big data processing, and machine learning workflows on Azure.
• 7+ years of experience in project delivery or technical management roles, ideally focused on data-centric or cloud solutions.
• Proven track record in leading technical teams across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, along with traditional project management approaches.
• Ability to manage project scope, timelines, and budgets efficiently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience in client-facing roles.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certifications.
