ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to perform patient care-related activities which include to carry out assessment, plan and provide comprehensive patient care, measure patients' progress and report any abnormalities, and assist consultants in performing different diagnostic tests for the evaluation of patient care needs.
Specific responsibilities include to:
- receive and identify patients correctly for surgeries and other related procedures
- check patients' schedule for surgery or procedures and takeover patients' files
- complete all per-operative documentation pertaining to patients' surgeries
- ensure all specimens removed during surgery are correctly labeled and dispatched for necessary investigation as advised by surgeon
- scrub for designated cases, displaying competence for different areas as per scope of services of the hospital
- assist in the safe transportation of patients within the unit before and after surgery
- report any problem with equipment to supervisor immediately for timely rectification
- coordinate with the scheduler in smooth running of OR list and assist in pre-operative patient preparation.
You should have:
- Matriculation with Science (pre-medical background) and Intermediate in any discipline
- preferably completed Nursing Technician training course from AKUH or from any other recognized institute or at least one year of relevant experience in Ophthalmology
- good knowledge of basic patient care needs and ability to communicate in English
- ability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines
- ability to communicate well with patients and their families
- ability to effectively work independently as well as in teams
- willingness to work in shift duties
