Category Buyer

Experience: 10 years

Job Duties:

The Category Buyer reports to the Senior Director Procurement and Sourcing and is responsible for working closely with category management and other stakeholders to provide support where required. The Category Buyer position is a key role in. Responsibilities include: inventory analysis, database management (Tech POS, Sage X3, and similar), ensuring timely arrival of product, while maintaining data integrity in the point of sale system.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Purchasing and maintenance of systemwide inventory across multiple provinces
  2. Maintenance of Tech POS database
  3. Execute weekly/daily forecast analytics & provide insight on forecast variance, potential promotional product, while identifying growth opportunities
  4. Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
  5. Pro-actively identify and make recommendations related to balancing supply/demand, inventory levels, capacities, and customer fulfillment
  6. Coordinate the movement of inventory items when required
  7. Recommend and deliver improvements to the supply planning and supply chain execution processes
  8. Work closely with compliance team to ensure efficient delivery of federal reporting
  9. Support with process related to new store openings
  10. Support other supply chain/category management initiatives when requested

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  1. 5-10 years of progressive experience in a purchasing or supply chain role
  2. Strong track record of meeting inventory management targets
  3. Experience in purchasing in retail an asset
  4. Seamless verbal and written communication with both internal and external stakeholders
  5. Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel)
  6. Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  7. Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  8. Excellent ability to identify process improvements
  9. High level of initiative
  10. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
