As the Head of Production, you'll be the driving force behind bringing our innovative electric bikes to life. You'll lead all manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness while scaling production to meet growing demand. This is a pivotal role requiring a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and a passion for excellence in manufacturing. You'll build and mentor a high-performing production team and collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance to deliver exceptional products.

Industry: Automobile (Two Wheeler EVs)

Preference: Japanese brand assembly operations

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute production strategies aligned with the company's overall goals and growth plans. Forecast production needs and implement plans to meet those demands efficiently.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process, from raw material intake to final product assembly and testing. Optimize workflows, reduce waste, and implement best practices in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
  • Team Management: Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing production team, including supervisors, technicians, and assembly line workers. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance team to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards throughout the production process. Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure every electric bike meets our specifications.
  • Cost Management: Manage the production budget effectively, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure production targets are met within budgetary constraints.
  • Supply Chain Collaboration: Work closely with the Supply Chain team to ensure timely availability of high-quality components and materials. Optimize inventory levels and production schedules to minimize disruptions.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with safety regulations and environmental standards. Promote a safe working environment and implement safety protocols.
  • Technology and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest manufacturing technologies and processes relevant to electric vehicle production. Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and reduce costs through automation and technological advancements.
  • Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track production output, efficiency, quality, and costs. Analyze performance data and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with engineering, design, sales, and customer service teams to ensure seamless product development and delivery.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in production operations (particularly in Japanese brand assembly operations), with at least 2 years in a managerial role within an automotive or two-wheeler manufacturing environment. Experience in electric vehicle manufacturing is a significant plus.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and improving plant production operations, achieving production targets, and implementing quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
