Job Summary:

The Presales Engineer acts as the technical bridge between the sales team and potential clients, ensuring that proposed solutions align with customer needs. This role involves understanding client requirements, designing tailored solutions, delivering compelling technical presentations, and supporting the sales cycle from initial engagement to closure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Solution Design & Technical Expertise
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer needs and business challenges.
  • Design and propose customized technical solutions (e.g., software, hardware, cloud, or hybrid systems) that address client requirements.
  • Develop proofs of concept (PoCs), demos, and prototypes to showcase product capabilities.
  • Create technical proposals, RFP/RFI responses, and architecture diagrams.
2. Customer Engagement
  • Conduct discovery calls, workshops, and presentations to articulate product value propositions.
  • Deliver live product demonstrations tailored to client use cases.
  • Address technical objections and differentiate solutions from competitors.
3. Sales Support
  • Assist in pricing strategies, licensing models, and contract negotiations.
  • Partner with sales teams to qualify leads and identify upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between sales, product, and engineering teams to ensure feasibility.
4. Market & Product Knowledge
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor solutions, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide feedback to product teams to enhance offerings based on customer needs.
5. Documentation & Training
  • Develop collateral (e.g., whitepapers, case studies, battle cards).
  • Train sales teams on technical aspects of products/services.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in presales, solutions engineering, or technical sales (B2B preferred).
  • Hands-on expertise in [relevant technologies, e.g., cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), SaaS, cybersecurity, networking, etc.].
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in system architecture, APIs, integrations, and databases.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams), and demo environments.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to translate technical details into business value.
