The Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) invites applications for a faculty position in Science and Environmental Education. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to transformative education and sustainable development in Pakistan. We are looking for a motivated individual with an academic background in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field, along with educational experience in Environmental Education. Experience of executing development projects and working with schools will add huge value to the applicant. The ideal candidate should be demonstrably committed to addressing environmental challenges through education, engagement, and impactful initiatives.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

• design, develop, and deliver innovative courses and workshops on environmental education for various degree and non-degree programs;
• lead policy advocacy initiatives to promote sustainable practices in education and the broader community;
• engage in development projects, including those focusing on environmental sustainability, climate change education, and green schools;
• collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate environmental education into broader curricula;
• develop and implement community-based programs to address pressing environmental issues;
• build partnerships with public and private sector organizations to drive environmental advocacy initiatives;
• organize and lead seminars, and conferences on environmental sustainability and education;
• mentor students, teachers, and junior faculty in environmental education and activism;
• carry out and contribute to research projects, documenting and disseminating findings to inform policy and practice;
• represent AKU-IED at national and international forums on environmental education and sustainability;
• actively participate in committees and initiatives within AKU-IED and across the University;
• perform other duties as assigned by the Dean to advance the Institute's mission.

Requirements

You should have:

• at least a Master's degree in Environmental Education, (with a focus on Physics, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field) experience in running development projects related to environmental education and sustainability;
• a proven track record of designing and implementing educational programs with an environmental focus;
• strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and mobilize diverse stakeholders;
• experience in activism or grassroots initiatives addressing environmental challenges;
• excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce impactful policy documents, research reports, and proposals;
• familiarity with educational technologies and tools for blended and online learning;
• a deep understanding of Pakistan's environmental context and educational needs;
• passion for driving change through education and engagement.
