Job Description
  • Coordinate and conduct orientation programs for registered nurses, midwives, nursing technicians, and nursing assistants.
  • Coordinate and conduct in-service sessions, workshops, training courses, and CPR courses for nursing staff.
  • Participate in planning, developing, and evaluating educational plans, modules, outlines, performance checklists, and evaluation tools.
  • Review existing and develop new nursing policies, procedure guidelines, protocols, and conduct awareness sessions for nursing staff.
  • Observe staff nursing practices to assess compliance with policies, guidelines, and protocols, providing feedback to area HNs/CNIs.
General Responsibilities:

1. Conduct needs assessments of orientees and nursing staff using various strategic tools.

2. Assess progress of orientees/trainees and modify teaching strategies, content, or objectives accordingly.

3. Incorporate principles of teaching and learning in planning, developing, and implementing educational programs.

4. Demonstrate professionalism and act as a role model in communication with nursing staff and colleagues.

5. Deliver competence-based programs to nursing staff to ensure retention of knowledge and skills.

6. Participate in committees such as the Nursing Education Advisory Committee (NEAC) and Policy & Procedures (P&P) meetings, providing input.

7. Evaluate the quality of educational modules, resources, and equipment to meet learning needs.

8. Conduct literature searches to stay updated with current trends, acknowledge changes in nursing practice, and modify or develop educational modules accordingly.

9. Ensure educational programs, quizzes, and tools align with departmental goals and objectives.

10. Supervise nursing interns during internship programs as assigned.

11. Participate in nursing audits and mock drills.

12. Collaborate with area CNIs to make clinical rounds evaluating nursing orientees'/trainees' performance, patient care quality, and safety.

13. Prepare and submit monthly reports on staff developmental activities.

14. Maintain flexibility in managing multiple roles and responsibilities.

15. Promote a safe and healthy teaching and learning environment.

16. Engage in personal and professional growth activities.

17. Perform clinical practice on patients in line with personal goals and objectives.

18. Participate in at least one quality improvement project annually.
