We're looking for a data engineer who can transform raw data into clean, reliable insights. If you know why a dimension table belongs in a star schema, can spot a broken DAG before breakfast, and can confidently explain it all on a 9 a.m. PST Zoom call, you might be the one we're looking for.

Key Responsibilities

  • ETL / ELT Ownership: Design, build, and optimize batch and incremental jobs to move data from source to warehouse using clear, testable logic.
  • Data Modeling: Create and maintain dimensional and canonical data models that support BI dashboards and machine learning use cases.
  • Pipeline Reliability: Monitor Airflow/Cloud Composer jobs, set up alerts, and manage incident responses to ensure data SLAs are met.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize SQL queries, manage partitioning and clustering strategies, and tune resource usage on platforms like Snowflake and BigQuery.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement validation tests, lineage tracking, and documentation to ensure data trust across teams.
  • Client Collaboration: Participate in project stand-ups and requirement-gathering calls (with PST/EST overlap) to deliver scalable, business-aligned data solutions.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–4 years in data engineering, data warehousing, or related fields
  • SQL: Advanced skills including window functions and query plan analysis
  • ETL / ELT: Strong understanding of ingest, transform, and load processes in cloud ecosystems
  • Warehouses: Experience with Snowflake and/or BigQuery (schemas, roles, resource management)
  • Orchestration: Hands-on with Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer (DAG design, scheduling, sensors)
  • Data Modeling: Familiarity with star/snowflake schemas, SCDs, and normalization trade-offs
  • Coding: Proficiency in Python (or equivalent) for scripting and pipeline development
  • Communication: Clear, fluent English for presenting technical ideas to clients and internal teams
  • Availability: Ability to overlap 3–4 working hours with Pacific/Eastern U.S. time zones

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with dbt or similar data transformation frameworks
