The Communications Manager supports all media and communications activities and reports to the managing director. The objective is to improve the SoLF's capacity to communicate with one voice.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective corporate communications
  • Provide strategic input to and management of SoLF's corporate communications in line with the SoLF vision and mission, and develop related communications plans.
  • Develop and implement SBCC campaigns for donor-funded projects, ensuring strong visibility across all SoLF platforms and effectively showcasing project activities through appropriate communication channels.
  • Implement communication-related recommendations and decisions made at the SoLF Meetings and in the SoLF Work Programme, in close collaboration with SoLF Members and Partners.
  • With input from substantive leads, develop narrative and key messages for internal and external stakeholders to promote the work of SoLF. Oversee the preparation of a diverse range of information and communications activities and products, evaluating results and impact, and reporting on developments, trends and attitudes.
  • Draft press releases for events, manage media and journalist engagement, and maintain external relations with media houses to ensure effective PR coverage and visibility across communication channels.
  • Identify opportunities for and support SoLF involvement and presence at relevant international events and processes. Ensure collaboration, planning, preparation, and implementation of side events at relevant international events.
  • Provide advice and expertise to the SoLF Managing Director on various strategic communications issues, methods, and approaches. Anticipate and resolve communications/public relations issues/problems as required.
  • Manage the communications resources (e.g., budget) in areas such as digital development, social media, web development, copy editing, writing, illustrations and layout, and audio-visual communication.
  • Research, write, edit, and coordinate the SoLF Management Team's speeches, SoLF press releases, articles, features, opinion editorials, and other information products on a broad range of issues, and for a variety of media and channels.
  • Direct the curation of digital solutions and innovation support for projects. Translate digital technology into informative, digestible content and promote on relevant platforms as required.
  • Coordinate with Graphic designers and other communications/design agencies that work on SOLF projects.
  • Strengthen SoLF branding and coordinate publications
  • Manage and coordinate SoLF publications planning.
  • Lead the development and implementation of communications strategies, develop narratives, key messages and dissemination plans for SoLF reports and publications.
  • Strengthen SoLF branding, including guiding as recommended in the SoLF publication. Ensure visual consistency in products.
  • Oversee the production of publication-related promotional materials for print/electronic/voice/visual media.
  • Coordinate relevant engagement campaigns and international observances
  • Manage the strategic and operational coordination of the national communications campaigns by working closely with the relevant SoLF team.
  • Coordinate with the SoLF team partners and other stakeholders to implement system-wide campaigns and to incorporate the campaign message and themes into all relevant events and products.
  • Supervise and coordinate the production of print, audio, and visual campaign products and their dissemination on social media and other platforms.
  • Form strategic partnerships to gain support and amplify campaign impact. Develop relationships with influencers, ambassadors, and stakeholders. Evaluate effectiveness and adjust strategies as required.
  • Build knowledge through digital activities
  • Manage SoLF digital platforms, including websites and social media channels.
  • Develop and regularly align digital outreach strategies to fit public needs and new technologies. Use digital technologies to amplify SoLF online outreach.
  • Make digital information available to relevant networks through strategic partnerships as directed.
  • Supervise relationships with expert vendors for social media analysis and web development.

  • Travel as and when required with supervisors/MD's approval.

Disciplinary measures may include a warning, demotion, or, in severe cases, immediate termination of the employment contract. This action is taken in strict accordance with the PSEA policy, which the Employee is expected to have read and understood. SoLF emphasizes the gravity of upholding ethical standards to ensure a safe and respectful working environment for all.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • A Master's degree, preferably in communications, international relations, public relations, or another relevant field, is required, with a minimum of 3-4 years of work experience.
