Introduction

Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Senior Technologist, Molecular Pathology, a section of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and coordinate administrative and technical activities of the section according to procedures and policies for smooth running of the section
  • Ensure quality results by running internal quality control and participation in external proficiency testing program
  • Perform high complexity molecular pathology tests
  • Read, analyze, and interpret reports test results and quality control results and take remedial action when indicated
  • Conduct validation studies for new tests or new equipment introduction and obtain approval from laboratory Quality Committee
  • Communicate critical results effectively in a timely manner and ensure proper documentation as per protocols
  • Monitor supplies against the test volume to avoid inventory shortages and expiry
  • Implement safety regulations within the assigned section according to the safety manual
  • Assist in formulating and implementing short and long-term goals for lab operations
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, JCIA, and CAP standards in the section
  • Handle incidents and complaints of patients/physicians within stipulated timelines
  • Ensure preventive maintenance of equipment & coordinate with FMD/Vendors to resolve maintenance issues
  • Enhance lab staff knowledge on advancements in laboratory medicine and safety protocols
Requirements
  • A BS degree of 4 years, Masters' degree will be preferred
  • Three to four years of experience as a technologist at AKUH or six to seven years of relevant experience at another hospital or laboratory
  • Good knowledge of quality control, environmental safety, latest developments of medical technology, and laboratory tests
  • Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and problem-solving skills
