Position Summary
The ER Physician is responsible for providing immediate medical care to patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions. He/She assesses, diagnoses, stabilizes, and initiates treatment for a wide range of emergency cases in a fast-paced hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and diagnose patients with urgent and emergency medical conditions.
- Perform physical examinations, order diagnostic tests, and interpret results.
- Prioritize patient care based on the severity of conditions (triage).
- Provide immediate medical interventions for trauma, cardiac arrests, strokes, respiratory distress, and other critical conditions.
- Perform emergency procedures such as intubation, wound suturing, fracture stabilization, and resuscitation.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and life-saving treatments as necessary.
- Work closely with ER nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient care.
- Consult with specialists and facilitate patient transfers to appropriate departments when needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including patient history, diagnosis, and treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, medical protocols, and ethical standards.
- Adhere to infection control and emergency response protocols.
- Respond to mass casualty incidents, natural disasters, or public health emergencies.
- Manage multiple patients simultaneously while maintaining high-quality care.
- Make rapid, life-saving decisions under pressure.
Education & Certification
- Medical degree (MBBS or MD) from an accredited institution.
- Valid PMDC License.
- Completion of an Emergency Medicine Residency (or equivalent experience in ER settings).
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine (preferred) or Internal Medicine/Family Medicine with ER experience.
- BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certifications.
Experience:
Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience in ER, ICU, NICU.
