We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our team and lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise data architecture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating robust data models, ensuring data integrity, and implementing scalable database solutions using SQL and Python. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate business requirements into technical data solutions while maintaining the highest standards of data quality and governance.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our team and lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise data architecture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating robust data models, ensuring data integrity, and implementing scalable database solutions using SQL and Python. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate business requirements into technical data solutions while maintaining the highest standards of data quality and governance.

Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Modeling

• Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support business objectives and ensure scalability
• Create and maintain enterprise data architecture blueprints, including data flow diagrams and entity-relationship diagrams
• Establish data modeling standards and best practices across the organization
• Develop dimensional models for data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives

Database Management & Data Integrity

• Implement and maintain database integrity constraints, including primary keys, foreign keys, unique constraints, and check constraints
• Design and implement data validation rules and quality checks using SQL and Python
• Develop automated data quality monitoring systems and exception handling processes
• Create and maintain database performance optimization strategies, including indexing and partitioning schemes

Technical Implementation

• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions for data transformation and analysis
• Develop Python scripts for data pipeline automation, ETL processes, and data quality validation
• Design and implement data integration solutions across multiple platforms and systems
• Build reusable Python libraries and SQL templates for common data operations

Data Governance & Standards

• Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures
• Define data retention, archival, and purging strategies
• Implement data security measures and access controls
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, dictionaries, and lineage

Collaboration & Leadership

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Mentor junior team members on data modeling techniques and best practices
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure proper implementation of data structures
• Lead data architecture review sessions and provide technical guidance
  

Required Qualifications
Experience

• Minimum 7-10 years of hands-on experience in data architecture, data modeling, and database design
• Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions
• Extensive experience with both transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) systems
• Demonstrated success in managing data integrity in complex, high-volume environments

Technical Skills

• SQL Expertise : Advanced proficiency in SQL, including:
• Complex query optimization
• Stored procedures, functions, and triggers
• Performance tuning and query plan analysis
• Experience with multiple SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)
• Python Proficiency : Strong programming skills in Python, including:
• Data manipulation libraries (pandas, NumPy)
• Database connectivity (SQLAlchemy, psycopg2, pymongo)
• ETL frameworks (Apache Airflow, Luigi)
• Data quality and validation frameworks
• Data Modeling : Expert-level knowledge of:
• Dimensional modeling (star schema, snowflake schema)
• 3NF and denormalization techniques
• Data vault methodology
• Modern data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, PowerDesigner, dbdiagram.io )
  

Additional Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred)
• Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and methodologies
• Knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications (e.g., CDMP, AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer)
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis)
• Knowledge of data streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis)
• Familiarity with data catalog and metadata management tools
• Experience with DataOps and MLOps practices
• Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
