The Department of Anaesthesiology at Aga Khan University is committed to providing clinical excellence in perioperative care as well as the training of future anaesthesiologists. Our team of trained and well-experienced anesthesiologists aims to provide the best possible patient care not only in the operating theatres but also beyond it. With currently 35 clinical faculty, our department is one of the biggest Anaesthesia departments in the country. Our faculty is also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education, and our programs are recognized at national and international levels.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Resident Medical Officer in the Department of Anaesthesiology.

Note: Candidates with experience and completed training can also apply.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

  1. Perform preoperative assessment of patients visiting the preoperative anaesthesia clinic.
  2. Perform assessment of patients visiting the pain clinic and make initial management plans.
  3. Operating Room:
    1. Prepare theatre for scheduled surgery.
    2. Make anaesthesia management plan.
    3. Administer anaesthesia according to assigned privileges.
    4. Manage patients in PACU.
  4. Wards:
    1. Perform preoperative and postoperative rounds.
    2. Perform daily ward rounds with members of the acute and chronic pain management team.
  5. ICU:
    1. Perform initial assessment and make initial management plans.
    2. Perform daily rounds with the ICU consultant.
    3. Daily management of patients under the supervision of the consultant.
  6. Provide anaesthesia service under supervision of consultants in:
    1. Labour room suite for painless delivery.
    2. Radiology suite for various radiological procedures.
    3. Psychiatry wards for ECT therapy.
  7. On-call:
    1. Be available on the premises when on-call.
    2. Handover and takeover charge from the outgoing team.
    3. Attend to all patient-related issues and counsel when on-call including the operating room, ICU, emergency room, and ward.
    4. Communicate patient's clinical status with instructors and consultants when needed.
