Role Overview:

The Manager Projects (Civil) is responsible for overseeing and managing the execution of civil engineering Infrastructure, High Rise Buildings, Public Health Schemes & Steel structures projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role involves leading a team, coordinating with consultant, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and local codes. The Civil Project Manager is also in charge of budgeting, scheduling, contract negotiations, and project documentation. He plays a key role in risk management, resolving any issues that arise during the course of the project, and ensuring that all work is done according to specifications.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review detailed project plans, timelines, and schedules.
  • Review Estimate project costs, resources, and materials required.
  • Responsible for reviewing and vetting of tender and contract documents, scope of work, bills of quantities (BOQ), Tender/ Working Drawings, Shop Drawings etc. of his assigned projects.
  • Responsible for complete ownership of his projects from pre-tendering stage to completion.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to align goals and expectations.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets.
  • Track project expenses and ensure that the project stays within budget.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage procurement processes.
  • Lead and manage project teams, including engineers, architects, subcontractors, and other personnel.
  • Assign tasks, and monitor progress.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between all parties involved.
  • Oversee the construction process to ensure that all work meets design specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality of materials and workmanship
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are met, including timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure the project adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Keep accurate records of contracts, communications, project milestones, and changes.
  • Oversee the completion of the project, including final inspections and documentation.
  • Ensure all final payments are made and all deliverables are handed over to the client.
  • Conduct post-project evaluations to assess the success of the project and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering from UET/ NUST/ NED in a related field (e.g., Construction Management, Geo-Technical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering), shall be preferred.
  • Minimum 20-25 years of progressive field experience in Civil Engineering with a key focus on Execution of structural works, RCC Works, Infrastructure works, public health works/ schemes, Steel Structures etc. Experience with Pakistani Firms registered in Category C-1 will be preferred.
  • Should have completed execution of minimum 10 Projects as Project Manager/ Team Lead/ Senior Role not less than Contract Value of PKR 3 Billion from Pre-Tendering stage to successful completion.
  • Strong understanding of relevant building codes, standards, and regulations i:e FIDIC, PEC Bidding Document & PPRA etc.
  • Must possess sound knowledge of types of Contracts, Designs, Design review, Estimates, Rate Analysis, implementation of design.
  • Must have sound knowledge of Execution and Designing/ Design Review of MEP works, Bar bending Schedules, Cross section, Profiles etc.
  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, including structural, geotechnical, and concrete design.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex and high-value projects, ideally in challenging environments.
  • Strong understanding of advanced construction methods, materials, and technologies.
  • Proven ability to apply innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Proven expertise in all phases of the project lifecycle, from conceptualization and planning to execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
  • Exceptional project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage project risks, identify and mitigate potential issues proactively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Also should have strong drafting & written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Project, Powerpoint, Excel, MS Autocad).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license from Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) is essential.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or an equivalent recognized certification is highly desirable.
