Boiler Engineer

The Health & Safety Accord (Pvt) Ltd. engineers will serve as a part of the Pakistan Accord team in Pakistan under the supervision of the Chief Safety Officer - Pakistan Accord and CEO or their assigned person.

The Pakistan Accord staff engineers shall be based in the Accord office in Karachi. The engineers will spend a significant portion of the time in the field and at workplaces in their assigned areas. The Accord staff boiler engineers are essential to the practical execution of the safety inspections, remediation, verification, and technical consultation components of the Accord.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct factory inspections in line with the Pakistan Accord Building Standard.

• Prepare detailed inspection reports following Pakistan Accord protocols.

• Provide engineering input and support for inspection, remediation, and training programs.

• Support factory representatives, worker groups, and brand representatives with technical queries.

• Assist Accord leadership with scheduling and coordination with external inspection companies to ensure inspection efficiency.

• Facilitate communication and coordination among brands, factory owners, workers, and Accord leadership regarding inspections and remediation plans.

• Conduct follow-up inspections to verify timely and effective completion of remediation plans.

• Identify and report any issues, obstacles, or challenges related to the execution of remediation/corrective action plans.

• Collaborate with the Accord training and complaints handling teams as needed.

• Perform any other duties assigned by the Accord leadership.

Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum Requirements and Skills:

• Fresh graduates (0–2 years of experience) in relevant filed (degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field) with strong academic credentials are encouraged to apply.

• A Postgraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline will be considered a strong advantage, especially for candidates with limited work experience.

• Familiarity with national and international safety standards and codes (preferred but not mandatory for junior applicants).

• Strong technical report writing and communication skills (in English).

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and documentation abilities.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a field-based team.

• Proficiency with relevant engineering tools and software (desirable, training will be provided where required).

• High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the objectives of the Pakistan Accord.

About the International Accord

The International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry (International Accord) is an agreement between garment brands and the global trade unions IndustriALL and UNI Global Union. The agreement builds on the 2013 and 2018 Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh. More than 200 garment and textile brands have signed the International Accord. Since May 2013, the Accord programs have reached over 2,000 factories employing around 2 million workers in Bangladesh. In December 2022 the Accord brands and unions agreed to establish a new program in Pakistan in 2023 which will promote worker safety through independent inspections, remediation, training programs and a worker complaints mechanism.

The positions are based in Karachi with frequent travels to industrial sites in other cities, across Pakistan (as and when required).
