Power Plant Operations Assistant

This position involves working in a team environment to ensure the smooth operation of a 24/7 functional co-generation power plant. The successful candidate will provide technical assistance to shift supervisors, perform equipment maintenance and cleaning, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Job Description:
  • Assist seniors in operating and maintaining power plant equipment, including generators and heat recovery systems.
  • Support shift supervisors during operations and maintenance activities.
  • Receive and store consumables such as diesel oil and lube oil.
  • Participate in emergency shutdowns, breakdowns, and routine maintenance work to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor plant performance, equipment conditions, and system parameters.
  • Perform tasks assigned by the plant engineer, including assisting chiller operators and boiler attendants.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Equipment Maintenance: Assist in performing regular maintenance on power plant equipment, including generators, heat recovery systems, and other related machinery.
  2. Shift Support: Provide support to shift supervisors during operations and maintenance activities, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the power plant.
  3. Consumable Management: Receive, store, and manage consumables such as diesel oil and lube oil, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  4. Emergency Response: Participate in emergency shutdowns, breakdowns, and routine maintenance work to minimize downtime and ensure the continued operation of the power plant.
  5. Performance Monitoring: Monitor plant performance, equipment conditions, and system parameters to identify areas for improvement and optimize overall efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Diploma of Associate Engineer (3 years) in Mechanical/Electrical/Power Technology or B-Tech preferred.
  • At least 6 years of experience in power plant operations, with 4 years in a shift operator or assistant role.
  • Sound technical knowledge of gas and diesel engine generators, auxiliaries, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with power generation systems, WHR boilers, generators, and control systems.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 rotating shift environment.
