The Division: ClubWise integrates Club Management Software, Direct Debit Collection Services, Marketing, Referral Management and Retention Services, in a single, cloud-based solution, providing tangible benefits for your business.

The Position: A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA. We are looking for an experienced administrator with experience in performance optimisation, fail-over, stored procedures, replication and problem resolution. You'll be working with a world-class team of engineers who are passionate about what they do and we expect no less from you. You should have an insatiable hunger for learning new things and improving existing ones. If you're the right one for us then you pay attention to details and take great pride in your work. This role reports to the Head of Development.

You'll help us make our databases highly performant and optimal for the web working alongside experienced software development and IT Operations teams as we embark on an exciting green-field opportunity to create a best-in-class, modern system.

About You: Someone who doesn't need a lot of input and has experience in PostgreSQL as a DBA. You should have a minimum of 3 years commercial experience working with PostgreSQL in a web-based SAAS environment with experience of AWS deployments.

You're actively involved in current technology developments in your area of expertise with a good sense of design and a proactive nature and a desire to 'look under the hood'. You practice continuous self-improvement and professional development.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Outstanding engineering talent proven by great work results/experience, interesting hobby projects, open source contributions, or superior academic results
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for PostgreSQL
  • Minimum 2 years of experience of database replication in a real-time environment
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company's success

  • Experience of PostgreSQL in an AWS (or similar) cloud environment

Responsibilities:

  • Manage PostgreSQL databases (Always On, Failover clustering)
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes
  • Monitor system's health and performance
  • Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security
  • Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time
  • Help anticipate potential problems before they occur and provide robust solutions before issues escalate.
  • Provide suggestions for solutions, improvements and innovative use of technology
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement
  • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
