Backend Architect

We are an extensively growing healthcare organization and we are seeking a highly self-motivated professional for our Healthcare IT division who possesses a passion for software and related technologies, who can work individually and as a team, and achieve desirable goals and fruitful results within discussed deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for engagement in the planning phase, designing and developing backend services, APIs, and databases that support our EHR system and Healthcare IT applications. In addition to Healthcare IT, the candidate may also have to work on other allied software systems as required by the Organization.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to build scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Design and develop large-scale web applications with a strong focus on security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Create and maintain database schemas and design database queries to efficiently retrieve data from the MongoDB database.
• Write reusable and modular code in Java or Node.js and integrate it with other systems and applications.
• Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks such as Express.js, Koa.js, Nest.js, Spring Boot, or Micronaut and ensure code quality through continuous integration and deployment.
• Have experience in developing XML/JSON-based web services.
• Sound API design and knowledge of HTTP principles are vital to providing robust, easily consumed services for the rest of the company.
• Design and develop backend services, APIs, and databases that support the EHR system and Healthcare IT applications.
• Review the development and coding of Java programs and systems. Ensure appropriate documentation is utilized in information systems projects.
• Understand MongoDB, as well as other relevant technologies such as RESTful APIs, OAuth, and JSON. Have a good understanding of data security and privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
• Research, test, benchmark, and evaluate new technology. Solve the types of mysteries that only occur at a high scale.
• Perform post-implementation reviews to determine if the system and cost objectives of the project were achieved.
• Develop work plans and cost estimates and analyze alternative approaches; advise users on the feasibility of a cost-effective conversion to web-based systems.
• Analyze and recommend new procedures and techniques to improve the supported systems.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in backend development and Healthcare IT.
• Design and develop scalable, secure, and highly available web applications.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with strong experience in Java or Node.js.
• Strong experience in database design and development with MongoDB, with experience with PostgreSQL a plus.
• Strong understanding of data security and privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
• Experience with FHIR is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of coding systems including LOINC, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and SNOMED-CT.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
