About Green Pilgrim

Green Pilgrim is a global non-profit movement advocating for a plastic-free pilgrimage while fostering behavioral change through online activism and offline action. Established in 2018, we empower pilgrims to adopt sustainable practices during Arbaeen and beyond, promoting environmental stewardship rooted in Islamic environmentalism.

Our diverse network spans the Middle East, South Asia, Australia, the UK, and the US, focusing on meaningful partnerships, knowledge exchange, and creating impactful strategies. We are entirely volunteer-led and do not raise funds, relying on the passion and dedication of our growing community.

Role Summary

We are looking for proactive, team-oriented individuals to join our volunteer team as Social Media Designers. In this role, you will create engaging content that reflects Green Pilgrim's mission and values while collaborating with a dynamic team dedicated to sustainability.

If you have prior experience in environmental movements, content creation, or multilingual skills, it's an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation:

1. Design and create impactful social media content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
2. Collaborate on posts, stories, carousels, and videos that align with our environmental mission and multicultural audience.
3. Develop content in English and in Urdu, Persian, or Arabic if proficient, or work closely with translators to reach diverse audiences.
4. Work with the Social Media Strategy Lead and Founder to align content with organizational goals.
5. Participate in team discussions to brainstorm ideas, refine strategies, and ensure high-quality outputs.
6. Incorporate basic environmental knowledge into content, promoting reusable solutions, eco-friendly practices, and responsible consumption.
7. Leverage insights from environmental movements and sustainability initiatives to enrich campaigns.

Community Engagement:

1. Interact with followers by responding to comments and fostering discussions that encourage offline action.

Flexible Commitment:

Dedicate approximately 1.5 days per week to this role, with flexible working hours.

Qualifications

1. Passion to learn and contribute to greener holy cities.
2. A basic understanding of environmental issues and a passion for sustainability.
3. Previous experience in content creation for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).
4. Creativity and storytelling skills to craft engaging content.
5. Skilled at using design tools.
6. Multilingual proficiency in Urdu, Persian, or Arabic is a plus, or the ability to collaborate with translators.
7. Strong team player who can work collaboratively and independently when needed.
