Staff Engineer Software

JOB SUMMARY:

Software engineers apply the principles of software engineering to the design and development of software systems, features and tools which enable Fanatics businesses, platforms, and operations. SWE employ the use of diagrams, flowcharts, development of complex algorithms and software code in the development process.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Partner with Product, business stakeholders and other members of the technical development team to assess business, product, and system needs.
• Determine the feasibility of software operations through problem definition, evaluating analysis, and solution development.
• Work collaboratively and independently to design software solutions.
• Write code to develop new feature sets, solve problems, improve functionality of Fanatics products, systems, and platforms.
• Document and share technical knowledge.
• Participate in Agile development schedule.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• An in depth understanding of the software engineering discipline.
• Advanced mathematical analysis skills.
• Ability to create simple to complex algorithms.
• Ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with peers, managers and both internal and external customers.
• Experience with multiple programming languages, proficiency to expertise in languages needed for each specific product assigned.
• Experience with development on high-performing APIs or e-commerce interfacing system.
• Experience with relational databases and ORM technologies.
• Experience with Git or a similar distributed version control system.
• Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Agile development processes.
• Experience and/or familiarity with the following are a plus: AWS or GCP, T-SQL, Cassandra, Kubernetes, Docker, Golang.

Staff Software Engineer Level:

• Leads discovery, design and architect solutions for complex projects, typically within their existing domain.
• Able to write stories independently (to completion).
• Recognized SME, people seek your opinion.
• Typically has some expertise in multiple domains.
• Proactively seeks opportunities to improve their ecosystem.
• Ability to orchestrate and execute full project lifecycle.
• Cultural and Technical Champion: regularly strive to make Fanatics a better place to work as an Engineer.
• Ability to articulate designs and trade-offs to fellow SWE and stakeholders.
• Ability to interact with senior executives within Technology.
• In depth understanding of production systems.
• Ability to anticipate issues.
• Ability to recover from production failures.
• Ability to triage system wide performance issues.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
